Application Service Provider

NetWorks Group performed a detailed assessment, documentation and recommendation service for a leading ANX Value-Added Service Provider with an extranet of VPN tunnels to more than 450 ANX-subscribed trading partners and OEMs. The project involved full documentation of the current network, end-to-end network and security vulnerability assessments, ANX technology infrastructure review, and an operational efficiencies check. NetWorks Group followed the assessment service by developing a comprehensive security policy for the company, including a detailed change control process and a capacity planning report. In addition to installing routers and switches throughout the network infrastructure, NetWorks Group also implemented recommended enhancements, which included Cisco Works for network management, a Cisco remote access server, IPSec service improvements, and remote access VPNs with personal firewall and authentication using Radius and RSA SecurID.

Financial Services Institution

Networks Group completed a network security project for a financial services company with a large network of transaction partners in North America and Europe. The engagement began with a security assessment in which internal and external vulnerabilities and corrective recommendations were documented. The assessment revealed the need for the installation of a network IDS - ISS RealSecure on a Nokia appliance - on several segments, and the integration of multiple Check Point firewalls with high availability clusters to provide firewall and failover protection. RSA Keon PKI and SecurID two-factor authentication were installed for secure management of VPN/client authentication for e-commerce and access to high-level data. NetWorks Group also provided and installed Trend Micro anti-virus software, Websense Employee Internet Management (EIM) software, and a Cisco Cache Engine to improve processing and performance.

National Software Developer

When a leading software developer required assistance with their information security requirements, they called NetWorks Group. This project involved a detailed IT design, implementation planning, installation, configuration and training for a Check Point-based security infrastructure. Services included security policy review, security technology design, installation of Check Point VPN-1, Check Point FloodGate for bandwidth management, certificate manager for strong authentication, Websense EIM software for URL and content filtering, and eSafe for Active X, Java and email vandal protection. Host- and network-based intrusion detection systems were added in a later phase; future projects are to include high availability and reporting.
